The rise of Seun Kuti makes one wonder if the progeny of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti are gonna start taking over the scene like Bob Marley’s brood. The thing to remember, however, is that not one of the Marleys can claim to be touring with their dad’s band like 24-year-old Kuti is. Electrohop godfather Afrika Bambaataa—who’s been getting busy on the wheels of steel again as of late—helps build a head of steam after a loose, lanky opening set by Love Trio with Jamaican toaster U-Roy.
