As in summers past, the NYPL’s Humanities and Social Sciences Library is displaying Thomas Jefferson’s annotated draft of The Declaration of Independence—in which he underlined portions that were omitted from the final document (most notably his strong condemnation of slavery). This year, though, the institution will actually be open on Fri 4, Independence Day. Fireworks are nice and all, but we’d rather have it in writing.
