    Time Out New York / Issue 658 : May 7–13, 2008
    The horny issue

    Scrotal recall

Do the movies that turned us on as teens still rev us up as adults? Six TONY staffers revisit the flicks that rocked their pubescent worlds years ago.

    My Tutor (1983)

    Dan Avery, Around Town editor

    THEN
As a gay teenager circa 1990, my options for cinematic titillation were limited. I caught My Tutor on HBO and, aroused by Bobby’s (Matt Lattanzi) ridiculously tight shorts and blow-job lips, went out and rented it the next day. I remember having to catch my breath when Bobby and his French tutor first made love—the image of her hands grazing his firm abs and unbuckling his belt burned itself into my memory.

    NOW
Watching My Tutor again, I’m distracted by how predictable it is—in the first hour alone, there’s an unsuccessful trip to the whorehouse and a stuck-up girl gets her blouse ripped off. And with openly queer fare like Another Gay Movie and Eating Out at my disposal (not to mention a world of gay porn), Tutor’s blatant displays of heterosexuality are tedious. Lattanzi is as gorgeous as I remember, though.
